The La Entrada basketball program is open to all Las Lomitas and La Entrada students and non-student residents in the Las Lomitas Elementary School District in 3rd through 8th grades. All children registered to play will be placed on a team.
Registration
- NO LATE REGISTRATIONS will be accepted due to the need to form teams based on the number of participants at the close of registration. Please help us by registering on time.
- Students may withdraw for a 90% refund if the registrar is contacted prior to the students scheduled evaluation time. There will be no refunds after evaluations are completed.
- We are unable to accommodate placement of players on specific teams for carpooling or friendship purposes.
- We cannot permit players to 'switch' teams once they are formed and finalized without permission from the grade-level coordinator and athletic director.
Evaluations / Rosters / Schedules
- Evaluations are held in order to create 'fair and balanced' teams, which is required for Burgess League participation. There are NO 'A' and 'B' teams.
- Teams and practice schedules will be announced shortly after the evaluation days
- Team practices will begin after the Thanksgiving holiday. There are usually two practices per week and one game per week.
- Game schedules for 3rd through 7th grades are coordinated by Burgess and will not be posted until after the Winter holiday break (early January)
- Games for the 8th grade teams will begin in January
- The season will conclude in early March, 2012 excluding playoff games for 5th to 8th grades which may take games into mid March. There are no playoff games for 3rd or 4th graders.
Coaches / Volunteers
- We need coaches! Please consider coaching a team. Email Sue Bartalo or Inger Rarick, Basketball Athletic Directors for more information.
- These programs cannot exist without the help of parent volunteers. Whether as a coach, team parent, uniform coordinator, etc., please consider volunteering your time in some capacity.
League information
- We enter our 3rd to 7th grade teams in a recreational league run by the City of Menlo Park Recreation Department, known as the Burgess League. Games are played from December through March in either Arrillaga Gym, La Entrada Gym or the Onetta Harris Recreation Center.
- We enter our 8th grade teams in a recreational league run by the Mid-Peninsula Middle School League (MPMSL). This league was formed by the middle school Athletic Directors to help reduce the load on the Burgess League, which is stretched for playing time/space by the enormous number of teams. The MPMSL operates under the same philosophies as the Burgess League.
Cost for the season: $125 per player which covers gym, coaches training, referees and Burgess League fees.
