The La Entrada Wrestling Program is open to all students in the 4th thru 8th grades.
The season begins March 1 and will end in mid May. Practices are held on TUESDAYS and THURSDAYS from 4:00 to 5:30PM in Jensen Hall at La Entrada. Matches are held on Wednesdays, starting in early April against local junior high teams including Terman in Palo Alto and Cunha in Half Moon Bay.
The Wrestling program is run by Joe Patane who has over 28 years of coaching and wrestling experience.
Parents are responsible to drive their children to matches. There are typically 4 - 5 matches a season.
Cost for the season: $125 per player
SKILL LEVEL REQUIREMENTS: Players must be in 6th, 7th or 8th grade to join the team. Players must be able to control a practice rally from full court, serve consistently and understand how to play a set of tennis. Up to 20 players will be selected from the applicants for a varsity team based on their skill level. Based on court and coach availability, we will also accept additional players for a junior varsity team. All players will practice regularly and play some matches during the season.
PRACTICE: The team will practice approximately 2 afternoons a week at La Entrada (other courts may be used if we can secure them). Practices will begin in March.
MATCHES: Matches are traditionally played on Wednesdays and Fridays from 3:30 until 5:30, starting mid-March and ending mid-May. The team will play home and away matches against Castilleja, Corte Madera, Crystal Springs, St. Josephs, Menlo School, Woodside Elementary and Woodside Priory. Parents are responsible for transportation to and from matches.
CLOTHING: Functional tennis clothing and shoes are mandatory. Kids should also have hats, sunscreen and water when attending matches.
EVALUATION SESSION: Assessment of players will be held in early March on the La Entrada courts
COST: The cost for the season is $125 and includes instruction, insurance, team shirts and balls.
Track and Field |
The La Entrada Track and Field team is a co-ed program for all students in the 4th through 8th grades regardless of experience or ability. There will be WORKOUTS and TRACK MEETS where students will compete in individual and team competitions with other neighboring schools. This is a developmental team which focuses on participants being introduced to various track and field events and improving personal skills. Events include: 50 yard dash, 100 yard dash, 220, 440, 880, mile, hurdles, shotput, discus, high jump and javelin.
The season begins in APRIL and all students are expected to attend work-outs and meets.
- Practices are Tuesdays and Thursdays
- Parent meeting following first practice
- Meets will be held during the regular practice times at the regular practice location.
- We may also be invited to other optional meets (date/time TBA)

Boys Volleyball |
6th - 8th grade boys volleyball will begin in early April. Players of all skill levels are welcome. The basic principles of volleyball --serving, passing, setting and hitting -- will be taught to all players. Practices are likely to be in the La Entrada gym between 3-4PM on Tuesdays and Fridays, starting on April 3 and ending on May 24.
